With autumn come the geese. We have dozens and dozens flying above the farm.
Animals, big and small, are taking advantage of these beautiful days before the cold of winter.
Here some of the last bees collect from one of our Jerusalem artichokes’ flowers.
The same morning as the frost we were lucky to have a beautiful rainbow at sunrise.
We also sheared our angora goats at the beginning of October. Poor goats, after that they feel quite cold. They stay close to each other to keep warm. Fortunately, except for the frost the temperatures have not been too low!
I continued to dye our yarns. What do you think of these fall colors?
And we also have new patterns! One is “On The Slopes” a thick, textured ski hat knit with the yarn doubled. It is cosy and warm, perfect for skiing or winter walks. The hats you see (here) and on the ready-made page are ones we’ve knitted and they are ready to ship. We also offer kits, the pattern on its own, or you can have a hat made to order in the colours of your choice! Take a look at our ready-Made and Custom Order sections!
My friend Grey Dove was also busy and we have two new kinds of soap:
Egg-Cetera: a goat’s milk soap, unscented, enriched with eggs (from our hens) that will leave your skin feeling as though you have applied a light layer of moisturizer after lathering and rinsing. Egg-Cetera is perfect for the hands (or face), gentle and kind to the skin especially in the coming cold weather.
(And to share a little secret, some of your favourite soap fragrances such as Lavender Meadow and Frosty Pines will soon be being restocked, and they will have egg added to their already moisturizing goat milk formula, … just for a little extra luxury!)
Cafe Au Lait Soap: This exfoliating hand soap has been formulated with the kitchen in mind. It is made with double strength brewed coffee as well as goat’s milk. In addition it is veined with thin layers of ground coffee and cinnamon that gently scrub your hands clean while adding to the deodorizing properties of the soap. It is lightly scented with an espresso fragrance to complete the coffee theme.
