Pattern News!: Bernina Baby Jacket Is Ready To Cast On!

Here spring has sprung, it is the time of new beginnings! What more fitting time for us to be launching not only a new pattern, but a pattern that is the first in a whole new pattern line!

Presenting Belles Bouclettes Baby Patterns!

It is with great pleasure that we share with you today Madeleine Windsor‘s Bernina Baby Jacket!

This adorable sweater isn’t only delightfully fast and easy to knit, but makes a charming, cosy and comfortable cardigan for your little one to wear. With two children at home our designer is well placed to make clothes that are as practical as they are attractive. But I’ll stop rhapsodizing and let Madeleine tell you a bit about her gorgeous pattern in her own words.

Bernina is a mountain in the Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Bernina is a cute, cozy and practical cardigan for a baby or toddler with a playful cable design. It is worked from the bottom up and at the underarm, the sleeves, which have been knit separately (in the round), are knit on and the top is shaped using a saddle-shoulder method, for which full instructions are given. The button band is then picked up from the front edges to complete the garment, and the only seams to close are a few stitches at the underarms! The sizes are designed to give around 5 cm/ 2” of positive ease around the chest, both for comfort and growing space. If in doubt you can measure the child’s chest and then choose your size accordingly.

In anticipation of this addition to our pattern collection Isabelle has been working hard to have a selection of beautiful pastel spring colours to offer for you to knit the Bernina Jacket in.

You can buy the pattern on its own or as part of a kit. Not least of its charms this wonderful sweater is made using two or at most three skeins of Belles Bouclettes’ Amelia yarn.

We know you are going to love it as much as we already do!

Please do remember to send us pictures of your finished Bernina Jackets!, we look forward to posting them in the gallery section of our website!

Happy Knitting!
